Are you striving to become part of the "green movement" but just aren't sure where to start or what products have natural ingredients? Maureen Elson, of Elson's 2 Tracks in Crystal Falls, has spent time reading labels and taking notice of all the ingredients in home cleaning products. She did some reading and research and challenged whether some of the recipes for natural home cleaning products would be just as effective as those that are on the market. She has created products that are environmentally friendly and easy to use. Elson commented. "Not only did the dish soap clean my clothes but it left a nice fresh scent, was kind to my skin and easy on the environment." After some modifications, Elson is now marketing both her dish and laundry soap that she has been making and using for the past two years. The samples have been tested by friends and family and the feedback has been positive. Currently the products are being sold in local stores and the reorders keep coming in. She has received comments that the lavender laundry soap left bath linens softer, past the test for children with sensitive skin and had a pleasing fresh scent that made one want to wash their clothes! The citrus dish soap only requires one to two teaspoons and cleans a sink load of dishes and leaves your hands soft. The products contain all natural ingredients such as: baking soda, borax to loosen dirt and remove odors, clay powder used as a mild abrasive that holds the essential oils, essential oils for a disinfectant and calming scent, and a detergent that is derived from coconut oil.
